The murder trial of Blue Bulls rugby player "Bees" Roux was postponed on Wednesday as talks between his legal team and the State continued.

He will appear in the Pretoria Magistrate's Court again on Friday, and his bail of R100,000 was extended.

Roux was charged with murder after allegedly beating metro police officer Sergeant Ntshimane Johannes Mogale, 38, to death in August last year.

The incident took place in Pretoria after Mogale apparently pulled Roux over for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol.

Judge Vivian Mngqibisa-Thusi said on Wednesday the State and the defence were engaged in continuous negotiations.

"The parties have agreed to roll over the matter until Friday," she said.

Roux was supported in court on Wednesday by his parents, his two sisters, and his girlfriend Carien du Toit.

Dressed in a black suit with a white shirt and red tie, the muscular rugby player seemed relaxed, but did not look in the direction of Mogale's family.

Flanked by Du Toit and Adams, he left court quickly without saying anything.
