Springbok women's flank Lamla Momoti was forced to withdraw from the team's opening Women's Rugby World Cup clash against Australia on Friday, the SA Rugby Union announced.

Rachelle Geldenhuys, who made her Test debut against France in July, will replace the injured Momoti in the starting XV.

Momoti injured her knee during training on Thursday and had a late fitness test to give her sufficient time to recover from the injury. She did not recover fully and had to withdraw from the squad.
