The Lions on Thursday announced their partnership with global airline company, Emirates.

According to the Lions' official website, a five-year sponsorship agreement had been reached.

The agreement will see Emirates become the title sponsor of the Lions Super Rugby team, as well as to Ellis Park Stadium in Johannesburg.

Starting January 1 next year, the Lions will become known as the Emirates Lions, and the familiar “Fly Emirates” logo will be displayed on the match and training jerseys of the team for the next five years.

Furthermore, Ellis Park Stadium will be renamed to "Emirates Airline Park".
