Sharks director of rugby Gary Gold says that prop Thomas du Toit won’t be lost to South Africa rugby after signing a short-term agreement with Irish province Munster. Former SA Rugby high performance manager Rassie Erasmus is the director of rugby Munster. The club on Tuesday confirmed that former SA under-20 prop and current Sharks front-rower Du Toit would join them later this month.Du Toit‚ 21‚ is feted as one of the brightest young stars in South African rugby‚ but he has yet to take the step to Test rugby so far in his young career. He has played for the Barbarians and SA ‘A’.He is capable of propping both sides of the scrum while his immense size and power make him a strong ball-carrying option. Du Toit will only initially join on a three-month loan spell until he is granted a work permit. But Gold said in a text to TMG Sport that Du Toit: “Has signed an extension with the Sharks and will definitely be back. He might not even go [to Munster] because he is injured.”Munster also revealed that they had signed Chiefs hooker Rhys Marshall‚ who is currently completing his commitments with New Zealand province Taranaki in the Mitre 10 competition."In certain positions we had to look at our short-term and long-term options in making sure we had adequate cover‚” Erasmus said.“We are about to head into a fully loaded schedule across Europe and the PRO12 and needed to build on our depth in a few key areas so these short term contracts will help in that regard."Additionally with injuries to Mike Sherry and Kevin O'Byrne‚ Rhys Marshall will help in the immediate future and looking beyond that he is a talented long-term prospect for such a pivotal position within our squad." – TMG Sport..
