Bakkies Botha returns to partner Victor Matfield when the Bulls take on the Stormers in their crunch Super Rugby derby at Loftus on Saturday.
In total, 17 of the players in the squad named on Wednesday were involved in the Super 14 final against the Stormers last year.
Botha has recovered from a hand injury that kept him out of the Highlanders clash two weeks ago. Danie Rossouw moves to the bench at the expense of Juandre Kruger.
Gary Botha and Francois Hougaard have been named as replacements.
Coach Frans Ludeke said he wants the team to get back to winning ways.
“The defeat we suffered against the Highlanders was a good wake-up call for all and we are keen to get back to our winning ways,” Ludeke was quoted as saying in a Bulls statement.
“They don’t come bigger than the Stormers, so we prepared accordingly.”
The Stormers are unbeaten so far in the 2011 edition of the Super Rugby competition, although they have failed to score a try in their past two matches.
“They are still undefeated, which proves their quality," Matfield said. "This is always a big game for all of us, but even more importantly, it is a home game and we need to use that advantage. We are experienced, yes, but that only counts if we apply ourselves properly.”
Bulls team:
Zane Kirchner, Gerhard van den Heever, Jaco Pretorius, Wynand Olivier, Bjorn Basson, Morné Steyn, Fourie du Preez, Pierre Spies, Dewald Potgieter, Deon Stegmann, Victor Matfield, Bakkies Botha, Werner Kruger, Chiliboy Ralepelle, Gurthrö Steenkamp.
Replacements: Gary Botha, Rossouw de Klerk, Flip van der Merwe, Danie Rossouw, Derick Kuün, Francois Hougaard, Francois Brummer.
