Soccer City was the site of Ghana's two defeats at the World Cup - a 1-0 setback in the first round against Germany and the dramatic 4-2 penalty shoot-out loss to Uruguay in the quarterfinals.

Ghana are not taking the friendly against Bafana Bafana lightly and have named a strong squad that includes many players who were part of the World Cup contingent.

Included among these are Portsmouth's Kevin-Prince Boateng, Lyon's John Mensah, AC Milan's Dominic Adiyiah and goalkeeper Richard Kingson, who is currently not signed to a club.

Asamoah Gyan, in particular, will be hoping to banish the bad memories of Soccer City.

Gyan missed the penalty which could have seen Ghana become the first ever African country to reach the World Cup semifinals. The penalty was awarded after Luis Suarez's cynical "Hand of the Devil" handball in the dying minutes of regulation time.

South Africa enjoyed better luck at Soccer City during the World Cup, earning a 1-1 draw against Mexico in the opening game of the tournament.

The match will be a test of the crowd's allegiances.

Following Bafana Bafana's exit from the World Cup, many South Africans decided to support Ghana.

Tickets for the game, which cost only R100, have been sold out.

Match tickets for Ghana and South Africa World Cup games cost between R140 and R1120 for the group games and between R525 and R2100 for the quarterfinals.
