South Africa's glamour soccer club, Kaizer Chiefs, is among the most Googled in the country - along with the national team and the ANC Youth League president Julius Malema.

This is according to Zeitgeist 2010, a report compiled by the search engine's official blog.

Other popular news searches include former president Nelson Mandela, President Jacob Zuma and, interestingly enough, Cape Town rap-rave group Die Antwoord.

The report, Zeitgeist 2010, How The World Searched, based its results on billions of queries typed into Google this year.

The rankings for SA show Kaizer Chiefs is the most-searched-for soccer club. The team's success in the premier league and in cup tournaments this year could be why it received the most searches.

The club's brand manager, Dara Carroll, said: "People connect with Kaizer Chiefs and I'm not surprised in the least bit. I'm delighted."

She said winger Siphiwe Tshabalala was another reason for the club's popularity this year. He scored the first 2010 World Cup goal against Mexico.

Die Antwoord, meanwhile, also had South African fans scrambling . And so did pop duo Locnville, Afrikaans rapper Jack Parow and even the lottery's Powerball results.
