Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness declared on Friday that he is confident winger Arjen Robben will extend his present contract with the club, which expires at the end of the 2012-13 season.

“He has a contract for this season and next, but I have a feeling that he will renew his deal in the coming months,” Hoeness said at a conference in Berlin.

Hoeness added that the injury-prone Robben “knows he is in good hands at Bayern, medically too”.

He said: “We all know that he always has an injury to his back or somewhere else, and our medical team, led by Dr Hans-Wilhelm Muller-Wohlfahrt, is the best in the world.”

Robben missed Bayern’s Bundesliga win at Kaiserslautern last weekend because of a hip injury, with his coach Jupp Heynckes declaring that he requires “total rest for the moment”.

That injury ruled Robben out of the Netherlands’ Euro 2012 qualifier against San Marino.

The 27-year-old already missed Bayern’s opening Bundesliga fixture with a foot problem and then sat out the second leg of the Champions League play-off against FC Zurich with injuries to his back and his adductors.
