The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has confirmed that it is investigating allegations of a possible case of match-fixing relating to the relegation battle.

“Yes there are allegations but for now it’s hear say. We are, however, taking it seriously,” PSL chief executive Brand de Villiers told Soccer Laduma on Wednesday.

The soccer website revealed that the match-fixing allegations were discussed at PSL Executive Committee (EXCO) meeting on Tuesday 12 May 2015.

“I brought it to the attention of the EXCO and we have handed it over to the prosecutors.

“The prosecutors are independent from the PSL and, as standard procedure, they will investigate if there is a case or not. If there is, a case will be opened,” explained De Villiers.

According to the website, players, coaches and officials have allegedly been implicated.

The 2014/15 season ended on May 9 with AmaZulu being automatically relegated to the National First Division (NFD) while Swallows will slug it out in the promotion/relegation play-offs having ended up in 15th position.
