Newly appointed Genclerbirligi SK head coach Stuart Baxter has confirmed that the Turkish outfit is interested in Kaizer Chiefs want-away goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune, saying the club is closely monitoring his situation.

“They know about Khune’s situation and the president has asked me about him as the club has had some keeper problems,” Baxter is quoted as saying by the Daily Sun.

“When I get there we’ll look at it.”

The newspaper added that the club’s president lhan Cavcav is a fan of Khune and has already asked Baxter to try and convince the 27-year-old Bafana Bafana keeper.

Baxter also confirmed that he is also looking at other PSL players who he feels have outgrown the local league and can do well in Turkey.

“It’s not just the players that I know from Chiefs, there are a number of South African players that the club is looking at.

“I wouldn’t want to destabilise my relations with SA clubs, but there are players in the comfort zone and could stretch themselves playing there.”
