Former Bafana Bafana captain Mbulelo Mabizela has parted ways with AmaZulu as the NFD-bound coastal club starts measures to lighten the wage bill ahead of the 2015/16 season.

"We just cannot afford to keep a player of OJ's calibre due to our budget cuts," AmaZulu general manager Peter O'Connor told Football411 on Friday.

"He did a tremendous job for us but unfortunately we cannot extend the loan deal," the AmaZulu boss added.

Mabizela joined Usuthu from Mpumalanga Black Aces on a six-month deal in January and chipped in with some solid performances in central defence and scored key goals in the process.
