Maritzburg United have appointed former assistant coach Mandla Ncikazi as their new head coach at a press conference on Thursday morning . Ncikazi‚ 46‚ was Steve Komphela’s assistant last season‚ when Maritzburg enjoyed their first top-eight finish in nine PSL campaigns‚ finishing eighth.Mandla Ncikazi is officially appointed as the New Head Coach of Maritzburg United— Maritzburg United FC (@MaritzburgUtd) July 2, 2015junkFormer United striker Fadlu Davids was announced as one of two assistants‚ according to two sources close to the club.Komphela was poached as the new coach of Kaizer Chiefs‚ replacing Stuart Baxter.United and Komphela’s agent‚ Tim Sukazi‚ have been in dispute over the payout required to honour Komphela’s exit clause for the year he had left on his contract.Times Media has been told Maritzburg is promoting Ncikazi partly to give a young local coach a chance‚ and partly for continuity.Ernst Middendorp was an option‚ but the club felt the coach had not taken United forward as much as he could have in two previous stints at the club...
