Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed in a statement that Itumeleng Khune is back with the club.

"The Club has reached an agreement in principle with goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune and he will be rejoining us. Some internal procedures still need to take place though and then the deal will be 100% finalized," said Chiefs.

Talks over Mandla Masango are still ongoing, and the club said an update will be issued soon.

Khune reached a deadlock with Chiefs about a month ago after club bosses could not reach an agreement with him and his UK based agent. Reports pegged Khune's demands at R8,4 million per annum.

While further reports emerged that Khune would be joining Mamelodi Sundowns, this was rubbished by Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane who said Khune's demands were not market related and therefore unreasonable.

Bobby Motaung, Kaizer Chiefs chairman added fuel to speculation that Khune's soccer future hung in the balance with comments that he was disrespectful and should humble himself.

“We have been talking to the players and they have been playing hardball and making ridiculous demands. In life you must humble yourself and also be clear about what you want as a person,” said Motaung.

It is clear Motaung and Khune were able to reach a consensus as validated by the statement released by the club.
