Mpumalanga Black Aces Football Club has today announced a new technical partnership encompassing the Club and all youth divisions.

The deal, which is Canterbury’s first of its kind for local football, will see the popular ‘CCC-Canterbury’ brand becoming Black Aces’ ‘Official Technical Partner’.

As part of the three year partnership, Canterbury will provide kit to all of Black Aces teams including their impressive youth division.

In addition five Aces players will receive personal contracts of the World renown Mizuno footwear brand, as worn by Hulk , the Brazilian super star. Brand ID will make available their highly prestigious SKLZ , training equipment and Skins compression products to Aces.

The hope is that through a shared partnership, Canterbury will use their international reputation to ignite the Aces replica brand in the domestic market through their network of retail points.

The sponsorship of Black Aces in football will complement Canterbury’s strong local portfolio of sporting brands and will be the company’s entry into the large football market.  The Aces football partnership joins Canterbury’s impressive sponsorships of the Golden Lions rugby team, the Nashua Titans cricket team, South African netball team, Sport Science Institute & HPC in Pretoria.

Du Toit Botes, Canterbury Brand President, was excited at the prospect of positioning the brand in football.

“South Africa’s love of football was clear for the world to see during both the World Cup, and most recently the Cup of Nations.  The national pride shown for hosting both tournaments is a testament to how the country and people embrace the sport.

“It’s a privilege for Canterbury to be part of South Arica’s football development by passing on our expertise to the Black Aces team, at a time when the country is fast becoming a force in world football.  Through shared learning, we aim to work together in order to provide high quality apparel to Aces, while placing equal importance on providing fans with quality replica shirts.

“Our trusted reliance as a brand partner for our territory has created a reputation of absolute adherence to the ethics and integrity of global brands including the iconic 466/64 fashion brand, the only commercial partnership officially supported to help preserve the legacy of Mr Nelson Mandela,” said Botes.

Black Aces club owners and joint-Chairmen, Mario Morfou and George Morfou, welcomed the partnership and were delighted with their association with Canterbury, commented:

"On behalf of Black Aces Football Club, we are proud to announce that we have entered into a 3-year partnership with Canterbury. We did an exhaustive exercise on our apparel partner and am very impressed and confident with both their quality and delivery.   Choosing the correct clothing partner is crucial to our brand and we trust the Aces replica’s will be well supported in their outlets.

“Their impressive portfolio of brands coupled with their international footprint made it an easy decision for us and we trust that this is the start of a long and trusting relationship,” said Morfou.
