The Premier Soccer League (PSL) prosecutor Nande Becker has told Times LIVE on Tuesday that former Free State Stars striker Camaldine Abraw has not been banned as reported in the media and that his case is yet to be heard by the Disciplinary Committee.

KickOff.com reported on Tuesday that it “has been told that Camaldine Abraw has been banned from football for the next six months after signing two contracts with Kaizer Chiefs and Bloemfontein Celtic.”

But Becker refuted the report, saying that the Abraw matter is yet to be heard by the PSL Disciplinary Committee (DC).

“I can categorically confirm as the PSL prosecutor that the report in the media which suggest that a ruling on the Abraw matter has been reached is actually incorrect,” Becker tells Times LIVE.

“I have not prosecuted anyone by that name," said Becker."Immediately upon seeing the report, I quickly reached out to the chairman of the PSL DRC and he also told me that the report is incorrect. I don't know where those incorrect reports come from."

The PSL last week confirmed that the matter was supposed to be heard by the Dispute Resolution Chamber on August 4 but that did not happen after both Chiefs and Celtic reached an agreement for postponement.

“The Abraw matter is at a stage where it was last week – the matter was postponed but I can’t tell you right now the date which it has been postponed to,” added Becker.

Chiefs' communications manager Vina Maphosa also told this website that reports that the player has been suspended are false.

"The date for the Camaldine Abraw matter is set for 20 August 2015," said Maphosa in an email.

In May, Celtic announced that Abraw had signed a pre-contract with them, but Amakhosi unveiled the same player as their own at a press conference in June.

"As far as I am concerned the only thing is that the case has been postponed until month end. That's the only information that I have. As for the suspension, I don't have that information with me on my table right now," Maphosa said.

In terms of the League’s rules, in the event of a player entering into more than one contract of employment covering the same period of time, the Dispute Resolution Chamber will determine which contract will be recognised by the League.

In making this determination, according to the rules, the contract that was lodged with the League first will be accepted unless compelling evidence is led which causes the Dispute Resolution Chamber to come to a different conclusion.

The rules further states that the player will be charged with misconduct by the League.
