Reigning Premier Soccer League (PSL) champions Kaizer Chiefs have signed Edward Manqele from Chippa United.

This was revealed by Soccer Laduma on Friday after the soccer website reported earlier in the week that Chiefs coach Steve Komphela, who worked with the 28 year-old striker at Free State Stars, is keen to add the striker to his arsenal of attackers.

“Edward Manqele has signed for Kaizer Chiefs. It sounds like it’s a two-year deal,” revealed a Soccer Laduma source.

“Chippa (Mpengesi) mentioned to one of the guys that the player has signed for Chiefs.

“He told the guy that the deal was finalised yesterday (Thursday). The club’s chairman (Mpengesi) confirmed that the boy has signed,” said the source.

Chippa United chairman, however, told Times LIVE on Friday that an announcement will be made by his club at a press conference scheduled for the afternoon.

Asked to confirm nor deny the report that Manqele has signed, Chiefs spokesperson Vina Maphosa told this website to “wait for the afternoon.”
