Senzo Meyiwa’s father, Sam, is furious at Orlando Pirates boss Irvin Khoza for going public with his son’s insurance payout without first informing the family.

Khoza, who was speaking in his capacity as the chairman of the Premier Soccer Leauge (PSL), announced the news at a hastily convened press briefing on Tuesday.

It became abundantly clear as soon as the briefing started that the League has not informed Meyiwa’s family when Khoza said “as I’m speaking to you the office is in the process of informing the Meyiwa family.”

Meyiwa told Sowetan on Wednesday that: “I know nothing about that (insurance payout). He can’t go to the media about this without informing us first. I also only heard about it in the media.”

“Khoza and the PSL have not said a word to me, instead I received many calls from the newspapers,” an irritated Meyiwa told the daily.

“The Senzo Meyiwa insurance was paid out three or four days ago,” Khoza said on Tuesaday.

Meyiwa was killed in October last year and his killers are yet to be arrested.
