Sundowns drawn against Zamalek, Enyimba, Setif in Champions League group stages

Mamelodi Sundowns were handed a tough group during the CAF Champions League draw conducted at the African football governing body’s headquarters in Cairo, Egypt on Tuesday.

Pitso Mosimane's side were pitted up against former champions Enyimba of Nigeria, Egypt's Zamalek and Setif from Algeria.

Fresh from being crowned South African Champions, Sundowns were thrown a lifeline when CAF confirmed AS Vita Club were disqualified from Africa’s premier club competition after the Congo side were found to have fielded defaulters in their encounters with the Tshwane side.

Sundowns lost their tie against the Congo side on the away goal rule when they beat the Congo side 2-1 after losing 1-0 in Congo.

The breakthrough for Sundowns means that they will be back at work preparing for the Champions League instead of going away on a break following a tough PSL season,  which ended at the weekend.
