Coach Clinton Larsen expecting between seven and 10 new players at Golden Arrows

Lamontville Golden Arrows are furiously trying to bed down player deals over the next fortnight before beginning their pre-season training as their squad will take on a whole new look for the next campaign. Coach Clinton Larsen tells TimesLive that he is expecting between seven and 10 new players at the club and wants most of them‚ if not all‚ to be in place before he starts pre-season preparations at the end of the month. “We are busy behind the scenes and trying to get everyone before we come back. We had nine loan players last season so we have to do a lot of replacing. We are busy talking to a number of players at the moment‚” he added. Larsen says Arrows are talking to Orlando Pirates about keeping Gladwin Shitolo. “He settled in very nicely with us last season.”In the last campaign‚ Arrows had Ryan Chapman‚ Kuda Mahachi‚ Mahlatse Makudubela‚ Frank Mhango‚ Mwape Musonda and Rodney Ramagalela in on loan deals‚ apart from Shitolo. All are now back to their original clubs.Arrows will start pre-season training in Durban but Larsen plans a camp of between seven and 10 days in Johannesburg to organise friendlies against other top flight clubs.“We want to have a high quality of opponents. We’ve only got Maritzburg near us so we are forced to go to Jo’burg to get friendly games‚” he explained.Arrows finished just outside the top eight after a season in which Larsen came in to replace Serame Letsoaka‚ who moved to Bloemfontein Celtic as coach...
