Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has signed a new four-year contract with the club.

Mosimane has been in discussions on his new deal since the conclusion to last season, where Sundowns won a Premier Soccer League and Telkom Knockout double.

The former Bafana Bafana coach has won four trophies in three seasons at Downs – the 2013-14 and 2015-16 league titles, 2015 Nedbank Cup and 2015 Telkom Knockout.

Mosimane signed his new contract on the eve of Wednesday night’s 2-1 Caf Champions League victory against Enyimba at Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridegville, he said.

"OK – I got the contract today [on Wednesday], and I signed it and I delivered it,” Mosimane confirmed after the game.

“It’s a four-year contract.”

Mosimane said he did not read too much into the length of his new deal with Downs.

“You know the contracts. I always tell you guys [the press]. Contracts are nothing. Because how many coaches have been sacked with contracts?

“So does it matter? You do your job. For me, one year, four years – it doesn’t matter. Because you can sign for four years and get sacked in the first year.”

Sundowns are in a strong position in the Champions League following their win against physical Nigerian club Enyimba.

They are joint-leaders of Group B with Egyptian club Zamalek on three points, with both teams having played one game.

Enyimba, on two defeats, are on the back foot. Group B has been reduced to three teams after the expulsion of ES Setif for fan violence in their opening 2-0 defeat against Downs in Algeria on June 19.

The top two teams qualify for the semifinals.
