Pirates player tests positive for cocaine

An Orlando Pirates player is set to be hauled before a South African Institute for Drug Free Sport (SAIDS) disciplinary hearing after allegedly testing positive for cocaine. SAIDS CEO Khalid Galant confirmed to Times Media Digital on Wednesday night that the player faces charges of allegedly testing positive for cocaine and his hearing is to be held on August 31."His B sample confirmed the A sample and we will now move forward with the hearing. This offense is alleged to have taken place on January 9‚" Galant said.Galant said they would reveal more information after the player has appeared before the hearing.Pirates played an official league match against premiership rivals Platinum Stars at Orlando Stadium on January 9 and that game ended in a 1-1 draw.A first-half goal by Senegalese midfielder Issa Sarr put hosts Pirates ahead but striker Ndumiso Mabena levelled early in the second half.Pirates administrative officer Floyd Mbele confirmed the matter and said the club would also conduct its own investigation. - TMG Digital..
