Dennis Onyango was due to arrive in Uganda on Tuesday to join up with his teammates ahead of their key African Nations Cup qualifier at home to the Comoros Islands in Kampala on Sunday. A victory will put Uganda in with a chance to qualify for the finals for the first time since they finished runners-up in 1978.The Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper could also play on Wednesday in a warm-up friendly against Kenya.Khalid Aucho and Geoffrey Massa from Baroka FC had already flown home over the weekend.Massa is the captain of the Cranes who are tied with Burkina Faso in the battle to win Group D. But even if Uganda finish behind Burkina‚ they could still take one of the two places reserved for the best runners-up and end years of disappointment. The Ugandan trio are among a bevy of Premier Soccer League footballers who have fanned out over the continent for this weekend’s last round of qualifiers. Also in with a chance are Liberia‚ whose captain Antony Laffor did not feature for Sundowns in Sunday’s win over SuperSport United but who is key to the hopes of the Lone Stars‚ who must win in Tunisia on Sunday night to make sure of a place at the finals in Gabon in January. - TMG Digital..
