Midfielder Lebogang Phiri feels that German coach Alexander Zorniger has taken his game to a new level and has suggested his first preference now is to stay at Danish side Brondby. Phiri’s contract with the club comes to an end this season and from January onwards he will be free to sign a pre-contract elsewhere. He had hinted earlier this year that a move to a bigger club or league was first prize‚ with top Austrian side Rapid Vienna showing some interest. But he now says he hopes to extend his stay at the team situated on the outskirts of Copenhagen. The Bafana Bafana and national Under-23 star says playing under Zorniger‚ who joined the club at the start of this season‚ is a major factor in wanting to stay put after he was given a lead role to pull the strings in midfield.“He understands my game really well and gave me the role that suits the team best‚” Phiri told 3point.dk.“I trust him and love his game philosophy‚ and his way of training. I would love to be at the club [next season].Whether a possible extension is done in two days time or in six months‚ it will be beneficial for the club.“The coach gets new levels from my game that I did not know I could reach.”Patosi finds form in Belgium ahead of 2018 World Cup qualifiersBafana Bafana returnee Ayanda Patosi was in good form for his Belgian side Lokeren at the weekend‚ setting up both goals in a 2-1 win over Kortrijk. Phiri had been unhappy that Brondby would not allow him to compete at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in August‚ but now appears to have put that behind him.The 21-year-old joined Bronby in January 2013 from the BidVest Wits academy‚ initially on an amateur contract but was quickly elevated to the first team and months later played a leading role in helping the side avoid relegation. He has been a leading players for the side since and a key cog in their midfield‚ making almost 100 starts in all competitions‚ including the UEFA Europa League.Phiri made his debut for Bafana Bafana in a 3-1 friendly win over Swaziland in March 2015 and also played all three games as the side won the COSAFA Castle Cup in Namibia in June.He is yet to crack the nod for the side in African Nations Cup or World Cup qualifiers though‚ which will be his next target in the coming years. - TMG Digital..
