The South African Football Association’s disciplinary hearing into the conduct of Bafana Bafana coach Ephraim “Shakes” Mashaba starts on Thursday‚ but do not expect any outcome until next week.

Mashaba was suspended by Safa after a touchline rant that followed Bafana’s 2-1 World Cup qualifying victory against Senegal at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on November 12.

The coach was seen angrily gesturing at Safa president Danny Jordaan ahead of his television interview‚ with SABC journalist Kwena Moabelo and Safa media officer Matlhomola Morake attempting to calm the coach.

Mashaba’s hearing begins on Thursday. With a number of witnesses to be called it is expected to spill over into Friday‚ or perhaps even next week.

  • Suspended Bafana coach Mashaba's disciplinary hearing postponed to next monthEphraim ‘‘Shakes” Mashaba’s disciplinary hearing will now be heard next week after the South African Football Association (Safa) and the suspended Bafana Bafana coach agreed to postpone it to December 1.

An outcome only seems likely next week.

Safa seem intent on keeping a tight lid on proceedings.

On Wednesday‚ on his Twitter page‚ Safa communications head Dominic Chimhavi tweeted: “Received calls from media on Thursday’s DC matter of suspended @BafanaBafana coach. Please note this is an internal matter! No Media allowed.”

  • Da Gama, Senong set to follow Mashaba out the exit doorSA under-23 coach Owen da Gama and his under-20 counterpart Thabo Senong are also set to be shown the door after suspended Bafana Bafana mentor Ephraim “Shakes” Mashaba’s expected sacking this week.

Bafana qualified for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations under Mashaba‚ where they exited from a tough group in the first round.

South Africa failed to qualify for Afcon 2017‚ with the coach admitting to some glaring errors researching the opposition and conditions in away matches.

Bafana are in a strong position in the qualifiers for the 2018 Russia World Cup after an away draw against Burkina Faso then the win against Senegal.
