The website of South African professional football side Polokwane City was hacked on Friday afternoon with pornographic images.

The website had not been cleaned up on Saturday with club spokesman Noko Moloto saying they were working on the issue to avoid further embarrassment and damage to the team’s brand.

“We realised our website was hacked on Friday afternoon but we could not contact the service provider who maintains it‚” he said.

“The problem should be fixed as soon as we have managed to find the maintenance people and we want to wholeheartedly apologise to all the people who may have encountered those disturbing images that were displayed on our website‚” he said.

Moloto said the club was not aware of who may be responsible for the hack but they will conduct an investigation in an attempt to find the identity of the culprits.
