Andile Jali suffered bitter disappointment at the weekend when his KV Oostende side missed out on a first major trophy as they lost in a penalty shoot-out against Zulte-Waregem in the final of the Belgian Cup.

Oostende twice led in the game as it finished 2-2 after 90 minutes‚ but then fell behind in extra-time.

It took a penalty by former Kaizer Chiefs striker Knowledge Musona to pull them level again at 3-3‚ but he was one of the players that missed in the shoot-out and Oostende lost 4-2.

Keagan Dolly came off the bench after an hour for French side Montpellier but they were thumped 5-1 by Bordeaux.

There was a Valenciennes debut at last for on-loan Lebogang Mothiba in Ligue 2 after his battles with injury.

He also came on for the final 30 minutes but could not help his side avoid a 4-0 defeat to Tours.

Kermit Erasmus did not make it off the bench for Ligue 2 leaders Lens as they won 2-0 against Reims.

Bongani Zungu played for Portuguese side Vitoria Guimaraes as they won 3-0 at home to Rio Ave to go a long way to cementing a UEFA Europa League place for next season.

The Champions League looks out of reach though.

New Bafana Bafana call-up Luther Singh was rested by Sporting Braga B after his exploits at the African Under-20 Championships.

Kamohelo Mokotjo played for his Dutch side FC Twente as they won 3-0 at Roda JC‚ while Lebogang Phiri starred for Brondby in their 3-2 home win over Lyngby in Denmark.

Two discarded Bafana Bafana strikers both featured for their clubs as Tokelo Rantie came off the bench to help Genclerbirligi defeat Caykur 1-0 in Turkey‚ while Dino Ndlovu could not find a goal for Qarabag in Azerbaijan as they drew 0-0 with Zira.
