Captain Albert Costa will go with his pair of Top 10 players, both of whom will be competing from Sunday in London at the World Tour Finals, which end the ATP season and end five days prior to the Davis start on clay in Barcelona.

Spain will seek a fourth title in 10 years.

Nadal has been missing from the squad since the first-round victory against Serbia in March, his injuries keeping him out of the quarter-final win over Germany and September semi-finals against Israel.

No 8 Verdasco has also had injury problems off and on in 2009.

The final will be played at the indoor Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona, venue for the first Spanish title over Australia in 2000. Spain beat the US in Seville four years later and beat Argentina away last December - also without an injured Nadal.

Spain could become the first side to repeat as Davis Cup champions since Sweden in 1998.
