With Thursday being a public holiday, that means organisers have gone into overdrive with events for Heritage long-weekend. We found some spectacular ways for you to spend it (If you're determined to leave the house, that is).

Standard Bank Joy of Jazz

When: 24 – 26 Sept, Sandton Convention Centre

Blackbird

Don't miss the SA production of this critically acclaimed play, starring Lionel Newton and Robyn Rainsford McHarry and directed by Vanessa Cooke. It follows the reunion of 55-year-old Ray and 27-year-old Una, 15 years after he was imprisoned for his affair with her.

 

Park Acoustics Festival

When: 27 Sept, Fort Schanskop

Shimmy's Luchador Party

The music fest features some of the biggest names in SA hip-hop and house. Get ready to jam to the sounds of  K.O., Professor, Duncan, Zakwe, DBN Nyts and DJ Tira amongst others.

Durban Street Food Festival

When: 24 - 27 Sept, 8 Morrison Street, Rivertown Precinct

How much: R50 for a day pass, R150 for all four days. Buy from the website.

Enjoy African, Indian and Asian cuisine and a load of great entertainment. Young designers will also be presenting clothes for you to spend some of your cash on.

 

White Mountain Acoustic Festival

When: 24 - 27 Sept, White Mountain Resort, Drakensberg

The Drakensberg must be one of the most beautiful settings for a music festival. Performers include Jamie MacDowell and Tom Thum, Matthew Mole, Majozi and Kathryn Swain.
