Trading places: Top Absa Wealth job for Trurman Zuma

Absa Wealth, Absa's high-end wealth management business, has appointed Trurman Zuma as head of its central investment and product office.

He will be responsible for driving the strategic agenda of the office, focusing on product due diligence, research, advisory standards, and product and distribution support.

Zuma was previously chief executive officer of advisory services at Momentum Wealth and was head of single manager unit trusts at Stanlib Wealth Management.

He has also been a consultant in the financial services market and was director of sales and marketing (and shareholder) at MBD Holdings.

Zuma, a chartered account, is a graduate of the University of Natal, where he received a BCom in accounting and a postgraduate diploma in accounting.

Dikeledi Lorraine Nakene

The Palabora board of directors has appointed Dikeledi Lorraine Nakene as chief financial officer and board member.

Nakene has broad experience in finance, management and internal and external auditing. She is a chartered accountant and certified internal auditor.

She has held numerous senior positions, including executive general manager, audit partner and chief financial officer of the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture, as well as chair of the audit committee of the food and beverage Seta.

Nakene holds a BCom accounting cum laude (University of the North), a BCompt honours (University of SA) and higher diploma in taxation law (Wits).

She is a member of several professional organisations, including the Institute of Internal Auditors and South African Institute of Chartered Accountants.

Desray Goldman

Liberty Corporate, a division of Liberty Holdings, has appointed Desray Goldman divisional director: administration. Her responsibilities include heading the administration service for retirement fund clients, supporting product innovation and enhancing the overall client and intermediary experience with Liberty Corporate.

She previously headed the corporate administration division at Old Mutual, where she was also responsible for overseeing several large projects. Goldman has substantial experience in employee benefits, umbrella and stand-alone products, as well as IT systems. She also held a directorship at Ginsburg, Malan & Carsons and has client service experience.

Israel Skosana

Israel Skosana, executive chairman of Kapela Holdings, has been appointed chairman of XON - an information and communications technology firm - following the conclusion of a BEE deal through which Kapela acquired a 40% stake in the privately held company.

Skosana is a chartered accountant and was the first black person appointed an executive director of Absa. He has heldvarious management posts at Anglo American, IBM and Deloitte. He was CEO of SA Express Airways and SARHWU Investment Holdings, and was the first chairman of the SA Civil Aviation Authority. He is a founder member and past president of the Association for the Advancement of Black Accountants of Southern Africa (Abasa).
