We read with dismay this week that a major shake-up was looming at Orlando Pirates and that one of Tsamaya's Lifetime Achiever award winners, Mickey "Gobbledegook Guru" Modisane, was among those rumoured to be facing the chop.

Modisane, fan and friend of Tsamaya, has kept our flames going for many years. It will be a real pity if he gets the boot.

FORMER Bafana Bafana and Pirates defender Edward "Magents" Motale was a guest on Mzanzi Legends recently and it was one of the best shows ever. The comical "Magents" was decked out in a tie and leather jacket and after several questions about the whereabouts of his trademark torn, floppy hat, Motale whipped it out of his pocket and put it on - to the delight of his legions of fans. What a moment to behold!

BLACK Leopards haven't been back in the limelight for two minutes but the ludicrously run club never cease to amaze. They confiscated their players' cellphones ahead of their playoffs against Bay United in an attempt to keep them focused. Tshifhiwa Thidiela, the spokesman of Lidoda Duvha, told Kick-Off this was normal procedure before matches. What are they going to do next, lock away the players' girlfriends?

NAUGHTY Mokoena is suing the SABC's popular Zone 14 actors Popeye and Spinach. The two characters often poke fun at retired players in their opening acts. Recently, they alleged Mokoena ruined his career because of drugs, and his lawyers are taking action against the two stocky numbskulls. Mokoena looks like he's fallen on hard times and could use a bob or two.

CARLING Black Label Cup ambassador Ruud Gullit was dismissed as coach of Terek Grozny this week, bringing to an end a typically chaotic tenure in Chechnya. Grozny accused Gullit of complaining about an absence of bars and nightlife in the largely Muslim republic. "Gullit has to know he was invited here not to disappear into night-time establishments and discos, but to work at a football club and to get results," the club was quoted saying. We can't wait for Gullit to hit the township taverns and shebeens when the tournament comes to town.

AFTER being crowned Vodacom League champions, Chippa United owner Siviwe "Chippa" Mpengeni denied his captain his moment of glory when he elbowed him out of the way and hoisted the trophy sky high. Indeed, he behaved like someone who'd just scored a hat trick when Danny Jordaan presented them with the cup.

PIRATES media officer Thandi Merafe has been invited by Fifa to serve as one of the media venue managers during the 2011 Fifa Women's World Cup in Germany from June 26 to July 17. She will be in charge of the Berlin and Frankfurt stadiums. Well done and take it easy on the bratwurst.

BRIAN "Spiderman" Baloyi is retiring after 20 years in active football. Although he wasn't the best we ever saw, we still say thanks for the memories. He's been a role model and a gentleman of the game and many young players look up to his professionalism. Farewell, Spiderman.
