Kelly Khumalo's new companion is the talk of the town.

The actress and musician has been spotted with Durban herbalist Zamokwakhe "Bhaka" Nzama on several occasions, sparking rumours of a romance barely three months after she witnessed the murder of her lover, Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa.

On Thursday night she seemed in high spirits as she danced and partied at the nomination party of the Metro FM Music Awards in Bryanston, north of Johannesburg.

The 30-year-old mother of two arrived in a swanky red Audi A5 sedan with a Durban numberplate. Although Nzama has been seen driving this car several times, it is not registered in his name.

Several attempts to speak to Khumalo were unsuccessful, but she responded by SMS to a question about how she was doing since the murder: "I'm doing good, don't worry," she said.

Wearing a leopard-print swimsuit, matching head scarf and a long gold-coloured robe, Khumalo closed the show on Thursday night.

She announced her arrival on stage by whistling into the microphone then sang three songs including her controversial hit single, Asine, which was also nominated in the song of the year category. The song, the lead single in her latest offering Back To My Roots, is about a woman accused of killing her husband.

Alongside her sister Zandi and another unidentified friend, they were everywhere at the afterparty and even made it to the front of the stage, jumping up and down as they sang along to rapper Cassper Nyovest's popular hit track, Doc Shebeleza.

Khumalo changed into a colourful jumpsuit later and was seen sporting a big diamond ring on her left hand.

Nzama, flanked by four tall bodyguards , stayed close to her and Zandi for most of the night. She seemed to make an effort to avoid conversation with him; that was seemingly left up to Zandi.

Khumalo left the venue just after 11.30pm, about a minute or so after the herbalist and his entourage.

The group were seen driving off in different cars, but in convoy.
