  • According to a statement issued by her publicist, they found it alarming and rather sad that a channel by issuing such a statement is trying to ride on the popularity of Aishwarya to get publicity for their reality show. The statement further comments that Bachchan, who is known to be a true professional, had to refuse the show on account of her commitment to films. She is currently busy with a gruelling schedule of Guzaarish, while Endhiran (Ro- bot), Action Replay and Ravaan are all near completion thus the subject of monies and costing never did arise as discussions did not go beyond schedules and dates. The statement closes with "This is not the first reality show that Aishwarya has been approached for. Various proposals have come along but her schedules thus far have not allowed her to even consider the same. We would again like to reiterate that it was wrong and unfair for the channel to proclaim that Aishwarya Rai Bach- chan was too expensive and, therefore, they had to go with another host when the discussions did not even go beyond discussing dates".

And while the big wigs of Bollywood attended both events, Shahrukh Khan made news for two reasons. First Ghai got King Khan to spend time chatting to Sunny Deol and end their long standing feud of 16 years that occurred on the sets of Darr. Then Khan was spotted spending time chatting to the lovely Katrina Kaif that raised made many headlines considering the major fallout with her boyfriend Salman Khan last year. Reacting over the media reports Kaif said: "My bumping into Shahrukh or spending time with him at an event is just a regular thing. I think people should stop trying to look for controversy in every nook and cranny. All of us are here to work. And we have common functions to attend"

  • It was just over a year of filming but it must have felt like a decade for the cast and crew of Manirathinam's dual language venture Raavan in Hindi and Ashokavaname in Tamil. To mark the occasion, Manirathinam threw a party for all concerned with the film.Vikram is said to have excelled in his lead role opposite Aishwarya Rai. National award-winning actress Priyamani will play a major role in both versions. Inside sources say the film could spark a great deal of controversy as it inverts good and evil from the story of Rama and this might not go down well with Hindu fundamentalists.
  • Selvaraagavan's Aayirathil Oruvan is another film that has suffered numerous delays but this has not troubled its young director. He is positive the film will be a cult hit when released almost along the lines of the Indian Jones movies. After several release dates were announced, including Diwali 2009, many were expecting the film to release in November, but that is now impossible as post-production work on the film has not been completed. It now seems likely that Aayirathil Oruvan may now go toe-to-toe with Vijay's Vettaikaaran.
