6 things you can do to manage you time better

What would you give for an extra few hours each day, giving you enough time to complete those tasks that stack up on your desk but which you never seem to get around to? Extra time is unlikely to come your way, but time management can make you feel as though you have it.Neville de Lucia, new business development director at corporate training programme Dale Carnegie Training, says: "Time, quality and cost are in a constant state of tension and competing with each other, especially during hard economic times."story_article_left1Time management takes time, but here are his tips on how to improve yours:1) Write down the things you must get done in your week, so you can prioritise each task. "This also helps you to remember to do everything. When tasks are not written down it is easy to forget to do something that may actually be very important," he says;2) Set daily and weekly goals. If you put them at the top of your list, you will make sure they are marked off first;3) Tackle tasks that yield the biggest results first, and take the time to assess which tasks are important and which are urgent;4) A schedule is crucial. Once you know which tasks need to be completed first, you can create one by setting deadlines;5) Assess your goals and as you finish taskslook at how this changes your schedule and your various goals; and6) Remember that some tasks are destined to remain undone. Be realistic and purge them from your list...
