Chic DIY: Paint an old bookshelf new

Create a colourful display cabinet by updating an old bookshelf with a fresh coat of bright paint and a few geometric shapes YOU WILL NEED:• Masking tape• 2 small paintbrushes• Dulux Supergrip primer• Dulux Pearl Glo Spring Breeze 2• Dulux Pearl Glo Sweet Sundae 2• Dulux Pearl Glo Mexican Mint 5• Dulux Pearl Glo Steel Symphonystory_article_left1WHAT TO DO:1. Prepare your space. Mask over cornices, skirting, ceiling and edges you don't want painted. Cover floor with a drop cloth.2. Apply primer as a base coat to the wall covering the entire surface.3. Demarcate cupboard corners in a triangular shape with masking tape. Make sure the base coat has been dry for at least 48 hours, otherwise you run the risk of the paint peeling when you remove masking tape.4. Using a well-selected colour palette, paint from the corners of the unit up to the masking tape. Work in sections. Once the coloured paint is dry, you can peel off the masking tape. Then mask off that colour and work on the next section...
