It can be tricky to host children when you are not used to having little fingers delving into various nooks and corners of your home, but there are a few simple things you can consider for those times when loved ones pay you a visit with their little ones

Keep it neat

Try to keep your electrical sockets covered and have all of your cabling neatly hidden away. Also consider keeping harmful products out of the cupboards that are within reach of small children.

Remove the breakables

Keep your breakables out of reach. Your vases and ceramic displays should be kept in a safe place while your little visitors are around. Also consider getting cutlery and crockery that won’t break easily, which children can use.

Cover up

Cover your carpet, floor or rug with an old sheet and allow your little guests to have fun. Kids will always spill, drop or draw, so it is best to pre-empt that and let them just enjoy your space; they will feel more at home. And once they are gone, you can simply pop the sheet in the wash, and keep your carpets and rugs in great condition.
