Top designers get playful with faucets for Axor Waterdream 2016 A recent project by luxury bathroom brand Axor has seen five designers and architects try their hand at something completely new - designing faucets. The brief was to design their own unique spout that would "celebrate water and its path on a functional and an emotional level".The five designers were each given an Axor U-Base, a universal fixture that connects to the tap, as their foundation. They then had free rein to use materials and forms of their choice to create a fully functioning faucet. The resulting creations are as beautiful as they are unique, and make for a delightfully fresh and ambitious take on bathroom design. Water Steps by Swedish duo FRONT is a sculptural spout that allows the water to flow from platform to platform, highlighting the playful exchange between metal and water.story_article_right1 Mimicry by Jean-Marie Massaud gives a more urban interpretation to the theme by releasing water from simple geometric shapes made from marble, suggesting w at e r ’s harmony within the architectural landscape. Ritual by British architect David Adjaye, features a wedge-shaped bronze spout that cradles a granite inlay from under which the water appears ‘The water, always in view, is ritualised – from source, to flow, and finally, to descent.’story_article_right2 Zen was designed by Danish-Italian duo GamFratesi, and is a reinterpretation of the classic Japanese wood fountain.
