The Edit: How to mix tones of grey in a sporty way

05 July 2015 - 02:00 By Roxanne Robinson & Tiaan Nagel

Gear up for the cold in layers of grey – with an athletic twist – to match the wintery weather ABOUT THE LOOK"I love grey, from the darkest of charcoals to the palest of soft greys. During a visit to Paris as a student I was invited to see a Dior collection designed by then-creative director John Galliano. I was told to collect my invitation at their head office around the corner from their flagship store on Avenue Montaigne - a beautiful space with grand proportions," says Tiaan Nagel, Sunday Times Fashion Weekly Editor."It was there that I fell in love with the perfect grey (a colour I instantly dubbed Dior grey). Every surface was painted in this grey; a perfect balance of 50% black and 50% white. And every other decor element, from the plush carpets to the deep-buttoned ottomans, was the same shade - even the beautiful portrait of Mr Dior by Bernard Buffet showed him wearing a suit in that perfect hue. This Edit is dedicated to that perfect shade of grey. Enjoy!"SHOP THE LOOKOutfit 1: Jersey, R749, Witchery; shirt, R689, Trenery; skirt, R920, Lunar (011-726-5558); handbag, R43 500, Louis Vuitton (011-784-9854 / 021-405-9700); DKNY flatforms, R3 495, Tik Lee.Outfit 2: Coat, R7 999, Tiger of Sweden (011-784-0561 / 021-421-9177); shirtdress, R9 200, That's It!
