Turn an easy bun recipe into something really special with swirls of soft hazelnut chocolate spread
Makes: about 24 buns
Ingredients:
270g (2 cups) cake flour
10ml (2 tsp) baking powder
Pinch of sugar
5ml (1 tsp) bicarbonate of soda
Pinch of salt
100g butter, chilled and cubed
300ml buttermilk
125ml (½ cup) Nutella
Method:
1) Preheat the oven to 180°C. Line a baking tray with baking paper.
2) Sift the flour, baking powder, sugar, bicarbonate of soda and salt into a large mixing bowl and mix in the butter using your fingertips until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs.
3) Mix in the buttermilk and stir until just combined - don't overmix. Using a knife, swirl the Nutella into the dough.
4) Drop a large spoonful of dough onto the baking tray and bake until the tops are slightly golden, about 12 - 15 minutes. Remove and allow to cool. Best eaten warm with extra blob of Nutella on the side.
