Serves: 4-6

Difficulty: Easy

Time: 40 minutes

Ingredients:

3 Tru-Cape abate fetel pears

45ml (3 tbsp) maple syrup

30g (¼ cup) pecans, chop half and leave the others whole

A pinch of ground cinnamon

Plain yoghurt, vanilla ice cream or cream, to serve

Method:

1) Preheat oven to 180°C.

2) Cut the pears into quarters and place on greased baking tray.

3) Drizzle with the maple syrup. Scatter with the nuts and a sprinkling of cinnamon powder.

4) Bake for about 20 minutes - drizzle the pears with the pan juices after 10 minutes.

5) Serve piping hot with ice cream, dollops of yoghurt or cream.

*Abate fetel is a distinctive long-necked, almost banana shaped pear that's good for cooking and baking; it's ripe when soft to the touch.
