Four tracks that summed up the month of March, and kept us bobbing our heads

1) Flume - Weekend featuring Moses Sumney

Fresh off winning a Grammy for the best dance/electronic album, the Australian producer has blessed us with a piece of maudlin magic. Combining a meaty sprinkling of bass, delicate piano work and ethereal beauty, the song reeks of mystery and regret.

Listen to it when you're alone and hoping your sorrows can't swim.

2) Mask Off - Future

Have you ever wondered what would happen if a snake charmer snuck into a recording studio where trap music was being made? Wonder no more because you can also visualise the cobra leaning out its wicker house doing a dab when this song plays. It is definitely the most acoustically interesting song Future has put out in a while.

Listen to it as a reminder that prescription drug dependency is a very real thing.

3) Whippoorwill - Clock Opera

Lead singer Guy Connelly's voice smacks of early Bon Iver in this ode to loneliness. Starting out minimally it grows into something surprisingly upbeat, especially given that the singer's deep melancholy seems to suggest the tears he's cried will drive him to a dehydration-induced death.

Listen to it as you compose your 500-word drunk text.

4) Beautiful Little Fools - Jorja Smith

A sexy jazzy number encouraging young women of the world not to be beautiful little fools, this song is something of a departure from the norm. There is no talk of heartbreak, drugs or whatever it is that kids these days seem to think is cool.

Listen to it as you encourage your daughter to be the best she can be.
