GWEDE Mantashe has previously positioned himself as the voice of reason at Luthuli House by speaking out against the madness at the SABC and taking unpopular stances within the party on Nkandlagate and other scandals. He is known in the party for his sharp tongue, and his detractors say his frankness is a sign of being "unpolished". It seems the madness at Luthuli House is contagious. After his calculator showed him his party was no longer in the majority in Johannesburg, Tshwane and Nelson Mandela Bay, Mamparantashe started questioning the proportional representation system, saying it was a "strange phenomenon" that his party had won more wards but ended up with fewer seats. This Mampara saw nothing wrong with this system until his party started losing...
