Provincial presidents will tomorrow call for an urgent special general meeting that could signal the end of South African Rugby Union (Saru) president Oregan Hoskins' 10-year reign. The presidents will tomorrow formally request Saru to convene the meeting which can only be held 28 days after notice is served.Saru has a general council meeting scheduled for April 1, but a provincial president who spoke to the Sunday Times on condition of anonymity said the Hoskins matter required its own meeting.A motion of no confidence could be brought against the Saru chief at that meeting, but the source said he could not divulge the agenda."One could say the meeting will have some bearing on the Saru president. We want to raise some concerns," he said.story_article_left1Provincial bosses this week met in Johannesburg to discuss potential remedies for several issues they believe are afflicting the sport.Hoskins was excluded. "The meeting was held in a good spirit. We will be requesting an urgent special general meeting as soon as possible," said the provincial boss.Among others, Hoskins has been in the presidents' firing line since a board meeting earlier this month in which he argued for the suspension of Saru chief executive Jurie Roux. The CEO is fighting a charge of financial mismanagement while he held office at Stellenbosch University where he was a senior financial director and president of the rugby club. In June last year the university filed a R37-million lawsuit against Roux.Hoskins wanted him suspended from his position at Saru, but provincial presidents believe he has no mandate to do so.Asked if the rift between Hoskins and Roux was so great that one of them had to go, the source said: "Yes, I think the former."..
