The retail price of petrol will decrease by 5.2 percent from Sept. 2, while wholesale diesel will go down by 4.9 percent, the energy department said on Friday.

In a statement, the department said petrol would cost 12.57 rand in Gauteng, while diesel would be 10.41 rand.

The government adjusts the price of fuel every month, factoring in global oil prices and the rand exchange rate .
