Cape Town cheapest for Brits on holiday

There's a silver lining in the dark clouds swirling over the economy: Cape Town is officially the cheapest long-haul destination for Brits. For the first time, the Mother City beat Bali to the top of the rankings in an analysis by the Post Office in the UK. Tokyo in Japan is third cheapest.Cape Town's margin of victory was huge - it was 28% cheaper than Bali - thanks largely to the cost of eating out on the Indonesian island rocketing more than 50% in the past year.The survey looked at the price of 10 tourist items, including meals and drinks, in 34 resorts and cities.The pound has been weakened by the Brexit vote, meaning tourist costs for Brits have gone up an average of 25% in the past year.Other resorts in the survey's top 10 are Mombasa, Kenya; Colombo, Sri Lanka; Cancun, Mexico; Phuket, Thailand; Lima, Peru; Orlando, Florida; and Grand Baie, Mauritius.The most expensive resort in the survey was Jumeirah Beach, Dubai, where the basket of 10 items cost more than four times as much as in Cape Town...
