Road trips, Mauritius and travelling in the US - comedian Stuart Taylor shares his favourite kind of holiday. Where did you spend your last holiday?My last time away was to the US.What was the best thing you did while there?I road tripped to Virginia for some gigs: three black men in an SUV driving through neighbourhoods with Confederate flags on their porches, while listening to Billie Holiday. It was epic.story_article_left1Your favourite city abroad and why?Edinburgh at festival time. Maybe because you run into fewer Scots.What was your best holiday, ever?A family trip to Mauritius. No cellphones, no internet, cocktails at 10am and 50 flavours of rum.What was your worst holiday ever? What happened?It was during my last Montecasino run. I did an early Sunday show then hit the road with my wife and infant son. We were going to Sun City for three nights but we hit a pothole the size of the North West province. It took out two tyres. The wait for the flatbed truck was two hours. We spent the night in Brits, which is easily the polar opposite of the Palace. My son and I split a packet of Flings for dinner.What is the best thing you have been given on holiday An upgrade to business class.Your favourite restaurant, anywhere?A new authentic Mexican restaurant (Mexicans from Mexico ) in Greenpoint, San Julian. If I have a free Friday in Cape Town, you'll find me there with a jug of margarita.What's your best piece of travel advice?Buy it! Never say, "I'll come back for it," or "We can book it later."
