One London Underground station will next month have all its advertising posters removed and replaced with cute pictures of cats. How did the city's commuters get so lucky? Well, it all began in April, when a small band of do-gooders posted an appeal on the fund-raising website, Kickstart."Deep in our hearts, we know that the best things in life are free," it said."Imagine a world where experiences and friendships were worth more than stuff you can buy."Enter the Citizens Advertising Takeover Service (CATS), a crowd-funded attempt to replace every single advert in a London Tube station with pictures of cats. Obvs."In the end, almost 700 people chipped in to help them raise £23,131 (about R412,000), enough to buy out all the advertising space at Clapham Common station for two weeks, starting September 12.The organisers said the aim had been to give people a "relaxing, fun and light-hearted" space free from commercial adverts.Even they admit it's a silly idea."But this is about trying something, flexing our collective voice in the most idiotic of ways."From all this madness something amazing could happen. Perhaps we'll start to realise that buying stuff isn't making us happy. Maybe cats won't make us happy either, but it's got to be better than insurance adverts."• Read more at catsnotads.com...
