AFRO-POP musician Kelly Khumalo says the days of her performing in skimpy outfits exposing her assets are over.
The musician, who shot to fame with the song Itshitshi, has come under fire for flashing a little too much during performances and said she will add a modern and elegant touch to her stage gear.
She said yesterday: "I'm not getting any younger. I need to have a more balanced look now.
"I'm still going to look sexy, in a way that an older person can admire. I will not be showing any bums like I did before."
The sexy songbird, who has previously bared her breasts and nether regions, on stage, said she will be adopting a more mature look and attitude in a bid to connect with older audiences.
Khumalo, who co-owns Prokelly Entertainment with her fiance Prosper Makaiwa, said she will be launching her new look at the Blues Room in Sandton on December 5.
She said she will be performing songs from her new album, titled Siyajabula. Khumalo said: "The album was released three months ago but I did not get an opportunity to launch it (properly)."
The singer caused a stir during a performance last year when she was photographed dancing provocatively without any underwear.
She said that some of her fans did not understand her dress code, so she has decided to change her look.
Khumalo said: "Although none of my fans have openly criticised my look, I felt I needed to change my dress code so that even the old man next door can still look (at) and admire me."
Her future plans include opening a Kelly Khumalo Foundation for children with HIV.
She said: "I hope that this project will start operating at the beginning of next year. I'm still organising sponsors."
Khumalo said the project was inspired by her love for kids: "I love children If we don't take care of them, who will?"
