Gen Nyamwasa suspects in court
Four men accused of trying to kill a former Rwandan army general living in exile in Johannesburg appeared in court yesterday.
They were arrested last month in connection with the shooting of General Faustin Kayumba Nyamwasa, who was wounded near his house in the luxury Melrose Arch Estate on June 19.
Yesterday the case was postponed to July 29 after confusion about the legality of the men's presence in South Africa.
Nyamwasa has been in self-imposed exile since February. He was accused of trying to destabilise Rwanda.
The justice department is to decide whether South Africa should consider a Rwandan extradition request for Nyamwasa.
