ANDILE NDLOVU | 12 June, 2012 00:14
STAR ATTRACTION: Actress Regina Hall of 'Think Like a Man' fame is expected to add glitz at the launch of Sport Minister Fikile Mbalula's foundation at the end of the month

Sports Minister Fikile Mbalula has again turned to Hollywood to add some star power to one of his gigs - this time the launch of his foundation later this month.

Although still mum on final details, celebrities including Diary of a Mad Black Woman actress Kimberly Elise, Think Like a Man's Regina Hall, Sanna Lathan (The Cleveland Show), Victoria's Secret model Selita Ebanks, and even Christine Teigen, who is engaged to US singer John Legend, are all on the guest list.

Generations star Katlego Danke, Yvonne Chaka-Chaka, Gauteng Premier Nomvula Mokonyane, former Springbok hero Joost van der Westhuizen, soccer ace Doctor Khumalo, boxing champion Baby Jake Matlala andBidvest CEO Brian Joffe will also be in attendance.

Through his foundation - planned to be launched on June 28 - Mbalula is looking for students from financially disadvantaged families who will receive fully paid four-year scholarships at selected universities.

A committee was set up by Mbalula to find deserving candidates who would have applied for financial aid.

The programme specifically looks to nurture prospective students in the science, commerce, communications and technology and arts fields.

The glitzy gala dinner will take place at the Sandton Sun Hotel.

Mbalula has also brought other celebrities including Brandy Norwood, Regina King, Vivica A Fox, Ray J and Keri Hilson to his events - including the SA Sports Awards at Sun City and his 40th birthday bash last year.

The night before the gala dinner, Mbalula will host Pentecostal bishop Noel Jones at an event called Night of Inspiration Conference.

According to invitations, the men will "provide inspirational messages of upliftment".

"Each one of them has an important story to tell, and will focus on the power of the mind and positioning tactics for personal and business growth," read the invitations.

Aspiring candidates for the Fikile Mbalula Foundation's scholarship programme are asked to submit a copy of their academic performance to info@fikilembalulafoundation.com.
