Five minutes with Alfred Ntombela aka Minister Mda in 'Mad Buddies'

With his signature laugh, Alfred Ntombela (born April 3 1972) has played the Schuster sidekick character, Minister Mda, to perfection in a host of hit films:
Leon and I work together like a tongue and a tooth. Leon is the kind of actor who needs support on set and I know when to be there for him. Acting in a comedy is not easy and we help each other.
I just want the audience to laugh at Leon and me - and Kenneth [Nkosi]. And to have fun. They must laugh when Minister Mda gets into trouble and enjoy what Kenneth and Leon get up to on their trip.
My first impression of this script was that it was really funny. I'm happy that Leon gave me a chance to play a politician - I know so many of them that it's easy to play one. And with Leon and Gray [Hofmeyr] writing and directing, they have this great chemistry and understanding of what makes people laugh. Leon's slapstick style is really funny.
My favourite scene is the wedding scene. I get a pig's head stuck on my head. It was hard, but for the big screen it was worth it. Also the scene where I get hit on the backside by a gate and go flying - we did so many takes and it got quite physical, but I knew it would be funny.
